Exciting things are happening at Greenfield Community College
in Science and Technology. Over the
summer period there is major investment across both campuses at Aycliffe and
Shildon to repair and remodel the facilities for Science and Technology to
match the modern curriculum offer in those areas. Science and Technology represent part of the
Greenfield specialism alongside the Arts, showing a commitment to foster
curiosity, encourage confidence, broaden student’s horizons and get good
On the Sunnydale Campus the west block has been handed over to builders to bring it up to standard. At Aycliffe rooms will be remodelled to provide a new science studio, a new food room, a textiles room and product design facility. All the work is scheduled to be complete by October with the majority in place from September 2017.
From September key subjects of English, Modern Foreign Languages and Religious Education will also be relocated to provide better teaching spaces on the Sunnydale Campus.
Executive Headteacher David Priestley is looking forward to the forthcoming improvements and the impact they will make. “As our school continues to grow we will continue to invest and develop our facilities to provide the best facilities for our expert teachers to continue to bring out the very best potential of our young people” said Mr Priestley.
