Greenfield Community College were thrilled to able to host a visit from the famous ‘Memory Man’ and inspirational speaker David Thomas recently. Students and staff were treated to a fabulous motivational speech which was entertaining and inspiring for all who were lucky enough to be part of the day.
David Thomas is renowned for his fantastic memory skills and famously secured a place in the Guinness Book of Records when he was able to recite Pi to 22,500 digits! Not only is he a global media personality he also specialises in public speaking and has inspired audiences from all walks of life. His own personal life has not always been easy and the talented speaker openly shares his difficult childhood but has overcome his earlier difficulties to be a great success and is keen to inspire a ‘can do’ ethos in others, as in his words “success is not a spectator sport”.
The students were shown the secret to improving memory skills and given inspiration for their future with a talk that was full of humour and motivation. Expert advice was given to over 500 Greenfield students throughout the day on sharpening their memories to help them in their studies and reaching their full potential in examinations.
Deputy headteacher Stuart Dixon said ‘having David here was a fantastic experience for our students. I know that they were hugely motivated by David’s talk and that they have already started to use the skills that he shared with them back in their lessons in school. A day for all involved to remember.’
