The new Geography Ebacc group visited Hamsterley Forest on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th June. They investigated why the velocity of a river changes as you proceed down stream. Following Bedburn Beck, they measured the speed of the water, the width and depth of the channel, the gradient of the slope over which the river runs and the size of the rock load carried. Both groups were a credit to the Geography department and the School, being both well organised and committed to their own acheivement. The Thursday group even organised a lunchtime rounders match. Mr Matthews-John and Mrs Raggett look forward to the progress made by both groups. More photos here.
